Residents of Mineral, VA, the epicenter of Virginia’s August 23 quake, and company brought their complaints straight to the source here in Richmond today, in fear of disasters such as those like Fukushima, Chernobyl and Three Mile Island.

BREAKING NEWS for VA and RVA

Mayor Jones returned from Denmark today, where he pitched an idea that Richmonders, Virginians and many U.S. citizens will be pleased to hear — First Picasso, and now this.

“Richmond is thrilled to be selected to host the 2015 road world cycling championships, joining a list of great cities like Madrid, Florence and Copenhagen,” said the mayor earlier today.

Non-residents of the Fan District or Richmond be wary: The street sign at the corner of Stuart Avenue and North Stafford is currently facing the wrong direction.

samwitwicky: “As far as I am aware, there are castings of La Riviere  by Maillol in Paris, New York, and Richmond. I’m sure there are others, but for now let’s just say that I only plan on living in cities that where La Riviere is. Cool. Clockwise: Richmond, Paris, NY (ny photo not mine)”

Richmonders, look for it at the VMFA.

For once, I’m taking pictures for you all!  This is my bedroom right now.

The district of Richmond I live in is gorgeous — especially compared to the area I used to live in.  Currently, there’s too many trees to count… Not to mention the architecture, the history… It’s as if I live in France.  Honestly.  When I look outside, I feel like I live in France…  We’ll just say that I do.

P.S. That cat — That’s the namesake of this blog.

Although it has not been officially confirmed by the University of Richmond, many sources say that President Barack Obama will be visiting the University of Richmond this Friday at the Robin Center.

The time of the event is not certain.  No matter the time, attendees should be prepared to dedicate their entire day to the event, as they may be required to be in the building up to hours before the president has arrived, and up to an hour or so after.

Richmonders, be wary not to take this opportunity for granted, even though this will be the second time in less than 12 months that the president has visited Richmond, VA.

Power lines shook, objects fell and citizens had a hard time standing today, as many in the U.S. actually experienced their first earthquake ever, around 1:51 p.m.  The earth rocked a 5.9 quake from Mineral, VA — 38 miles from Richmond, VA and 84 miles from the nation’s capitol.  Reports of feeling the quake stretched all along the East Coast — from New York to the Carolinas.  It is the largest quake to have occurred in VA since a 4.8 magnitude in 1875.

St. John’s Church in Richmond, VA was built in 1611, making this year its 400th anniversary.  Believe it or not, it is still an active parish, on top of being a National Historic Landmark, considering Patrick Henry’s famous “Give me Liberty or Give me Death” speech was given there.  Others you may know were also there, including George Washington himself, Thomas Jefferson, Richard Henry Lee and Peyton Randolph.

Stopped at a red light the other day, this car crosses the intersection right in front of Jill and I.  Of course, my initial reaction was to belt out loudly “WOAA” until the car was out of sight.  I then proceeded to “geek out” for a solid few minutes after.

Yep, by some odd twist of fate, luck, or chance, we crossed paths with the Google Maps Street View car.  Apparently, they are refreshing images of the Richmond area.  However, Google is not currently releasing any schedule information, so if you’re in the 804, or Virginia, keep your eyes peeled for a car with cameras on the roof and prepare to cheese it up!  We’ll keep you posted on the search for Jill and I’s photograph.
